Montgomery, AL – The River Region United Way is postponing the remainder of its “Day of Action” events this week due to anticipated weather from Tropical Storm Cindy and is rescheduling these events for next week.
“Day of Action” events are being postponed, as Governor Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency for all Alabama counties expected to receive severe weather from Tropical Storm Cindy this Wednesday and Thursday as it moves through the state. This means that E.T. Davis Elementary, our host site for “Day of Action,” will be closed along with all other Montgomery Public Schools on Wednesday and Thursday.
As a result, “Day of Action” events originally scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, and Thursday, June 22, have been cancelled and are now rescheduled for next Wednesday, June 28, andThursday, June 29 (8:00am – 12:00pm).
Wednesday, June 28, 2017, will now be the special day when we give backpacks filled with 10 books to every K-5 student enrolled in the Summer Reading Camp at Davis Elementary. (For Media: It is anticipated that students should receive their books between 11:00 – 11:30am on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.)
Due to this rescheduling, the River Region United Way now has a special need for volunteers on June 28 – 29 (to serve for 90-minute volunteer shifts between 8:00am and 12:00pm). Those interested in volunteering will be able to register and get updated information at www.RiverRegionUnitedWay.org/DayOfAction.
