Gumptown Magazine (Montgomery, AL) Tyrus Russell is preparing for his debut tour, One Name, One Love…Jesus Worship Tour. This seven city tour will visit four cities in Georgia and three cities in Alabama. The tour will kick off Saturday, February 6 in Forsyth, GA with the last performance Saturday, March 12 in Huntsville, AL. Tyrus says that this tour is a vision that God gave him.
Tyrus has been singing for about twelve years. This gifted, 30 year old native of Atlanta first discovered his calling to be a praise and worship leader in 2005 when he joined The Tribe of Judah under the direction of Minister Cinque Cullar. “It was here I realized that me leading people to God was themed for me.” Tyrus later joined the praise team at New Life Church of God In Christ. “After I joined the praise team, it all took off from there.”
Tyrus says that One Name, One Love…Jesus Worship Tour is all about getting people in the mode of worship and putting all of their focus on God. “The purpose is to create a new sound, and to create an intimate atmosphere of worship.”
While leading praise and worship, Tyrus is able to see and feel what people in the audience are going through. He says that God gives him the proper words to speak into a person’s situation.
Tyrus is excited, yet a little nervous about his first tour. For him, kicking off a ministry with a seven city tour is a big venture. “I’m gonna be good” he said.
In his free time, Tyrus likes to shop, travel, sing, and write music. Some of the artists he wishes to perform with are Marica Chisolm, Maranda Willis, Israel Houghton, Travis Green, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, and Marvin Sapp.
In the next five years, Tyrus plans to host an international tour and pursue his ministry full time. He also would like to have at least 2-3 projects in his repertoire.
